Outdoor Dining Room Finale! well, almost...

It's done! The table base was delivered Sunday and the top installed today and it's beautiful. Thanks Jay for the awesome welding job! Here's what's been done since my last post:

I made mirrors for the back wall to reflect the trees and sky and look like windows (more on that in a future post). I bought the big rust colored pillows and the seat cushions and made the print fabric pillows. I brought in a cute antique wooden bakers rack that I stole back from my mom (thanks Mom!) that holds blankets and miscellaneous barbecue tools, and hung a heater for those few chilly nights we have here. That's about it. I didn't want to buy any chairs until the table was finished because I'm not sure what I want and I thought having the table would help me to decide. The hunt for those will begin tomorrow. Overall, I couldn't be happier!

Check out this before and after:

I love looking at the before and after of the back of the house! We haven't missed the closets a bit and now we have this beautiful dining room. The table will seat 12 comfortably and we could probably squeeze in 14 if needed. Our first party is this weekend and I can't wait!

I'll keep you posted...

Outdoor Dining Room--Part 3

It's finished!! Well, at least the construction phase is finished. Total project time--12 days. The fan is up as is the chandelier and I'm pleased with both. I ended up with a commercial grade fan because that was all I could find that mounted on the wall. To make it look a little less industrial, I removed the big chrome cage that is supposed to surround the blades. I'm sure it's there for safety, but this fan is so high that it won't be a danger. The chandelier is a reject that's been in the basement for years. I spray painted it and removed most of the crystals to make it a little more casual and it looks just right.

The banquette was built. I used the same paneling that is on the wall and trimmed it out with some of the wood that was left over from the ceiling joists we removed so it ties in beautifully with the rest of the room.

This banquette should comfortably seat 6 and maybe we can squeeze in 7!

The railing was built to match the rest of the railing that is around the deck. I also had a wide top put on it so that it can serve as side board. It still has to be stained but I need to let it season for a week or so first.

We also decided to splurge and put limestone on the stairs. it was a budget buster, but we think it was worth it. Here are the before and after pictures.

Now I'm on to accessorizing!! The table is being made and we should have it in a couple of weeks. I am going to start looking for chairs this week and something for the walls.

I'll keep you posted!

Outdoor Dining Room Part 2

It was another busy week around here! We made lots of progress although the changes weren't as dramatic as last week. The room is painted, the electrical is complete, the new wall in the garage is sheet-rocked and painted, cabinets have been assembled, and the floor installed and sealed. Here are some pictures.

The garage is shaping up. Next week it gets a fresh coat of paint and the floor will get a coat of epoxy.

The concrete ended up being too uneven and stained to use, so we had these limestone floors installed. They're amazing!

We still have to hang the chandelier and the fan, build the banquette, and install the railing, and do some touch up painting. It should be 1-2 days more until the room is finished, then I get to decorate!

I'll keep you posted.
